Item description
The Hirsch’s Somerset West Fun Run on Youth Day was, once again, a great success. Commented Hirsch’s Jane Ann Coetzee “Early in the morning of the 16th June staff arrived at work motivated and excited to start the day. Just after 5H30 am the first runners started to register, with several food stalls and the Coffee Bar garden serving the runners in the icy cold Cape weather. Children kept themselves warm bounding about on the Jumping Castle sponsored by City of Cape Town. Goetz Bauer from Big Green Egg, made sure that the air was filled with the smell of yummy grilled steak along with Llewellyn from Whirlpool making Pizzas in the Whirlpool Jet Chef Microwave. The Mascot from Halle Trust entertained the kids, while JIVE served all runners with Pepsi.” Said Jane Ann.
The Ladies from Curves, Strand warmed the runners up while the marshals from Tekkies Tax and Hugenote College, Wellington, prepared the hand over of water sachets to the runners along the track. At 7H00 am the MC, Tarique Wales announced the start of the Run. In the dark, the runners took off. By 8H30 most of the runners came through the finish line, all safe, sound and happy – with no injuries reported.”
Later in the morning, Hirsch's CEO, Alan Hirsch and PRO Jane-Ann Coetzee, handed over the first Lucky Draw sponsored by HI Sense. All the runners stayed on to be part of the Big 35% Discount Sale on Youth Day. Hirsch’s Somerset West thanked runners, spectators, sponsors, the staff of Hugenote College, Wellington, suppliers and Disa Radio, Grabouw, to help make Youth Day such a big success.
